What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. This new technology involves the use of tiny needles creating micro-wounds on the surface of the skin. The procedure stimulates the body’s natural rejuvenation process and the production of new collagen. This collagen production causes tightening of the skin.

Microneedling is the #1 procedure for skin rejuvenation and pre-juvenation as it naturally prevents and reduces wrinkles. This procedure can improve and diminish the appearance of deep skin distress such as stretch marks, scars and acne marks. In addition, the surface of the skin receives similar rejuvenation through the reduction in the size of pores and fine wrinkles.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling works by creating micro-wounds in the skin’s surface. This technique stimulates natural skin rejuvenation through cell regeneration. The channels created in the skin surface, allow deep and superficial layers of skin to receive stimulating serums and growth factors causing a cascade of anti-aging events. Most skin treatments only allow the top most layers of skin to receive the rejuvenating properties. Microneedling goes beyond by allowing access to dermis and basal (deep) layers of the skin and increasing nutrient delivery by 80% as compared to standard topical treatments.

Consequently, the micro-punctures in the skin stimulate the body’s natural response to rejuvenate and restore. The result is an increased production of natural structured collagen.

The results are reliant on your body’s natural healing response. For best results 4 to 6 treatments should be received over a 3 to 6 month timeframe.

Does Microneedling Hurt?

Microneedling is not considered painful. Discomfort is generally minimal. Topical numbing can be applied if necessary.
